What I offer in:
The Childbearing Year
No two experiences are the same, but here is a brief overview of what my support and companionship can look like over the course of the childbearing year as a birth attendant/ doula.
Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to organise a chat to see if I can support you in any way.
Pregnancy is a time of growth, but also of preparation. Ideally, it is a time you spend leaning into your intuition, but after a lifetime of conflicting stories of childbirth, it is necessary for this to also be a period of learning/unlearning and decision-making.
During pregnancy, I can walk with you while you navigate and prepare what you want for this birth and entrance into mothering. That can be in the form of storytelling, unpacking your dreams or fears of this birth, or gathering the information for you to make the decisions that are right for your family. Most importantly, this is the time of building a trusting relationship between us before the birth.

Pregnancy

Birth is not only the emergence of a baby, but the transformation of a woman into a mother for this baby. It is a sacred rite of passage.
During your labour and birth, I will be there as a silent witness and protector of space, so that your birth can unfold as it is meant to.
That can be logistical, like calling grandmother to pick up the other children. It can be physical like making sure you are well hydrated, warm or running you a bath and giving you a massage. It can be emotional, like being the calming, reassuring presence when transition rears her head. It can also be spiritual, I never underestimate the power of the silent prayers that are made for each mother I attend.
What each woman needs is woven specifically for her. Just like any other trusting, loving relationship, no two look the same.
Birth
Traditionally, postpartum is a time of seclusion, where the mother-baby dyad can exist in their sweet bubble. It is in this sacred space that a new relationship blooms.
Being a time of great change, it is also a time that needs great support. As a postnatal doula I can support you in many ways, such as cooking delicious and nutritionally dense meals to aid you in recovery and building your milk. My help can also be in looking after some little ones while you catch some sleep, or popping on a load of laundry and giving the kitchen a quick tidy.
Often I'm just there to listen and witness your story in full and without judgment, with a cup of hot herbal tea and a foot massage.
